There are 2 areas you will need to understand to help your child read at home. The first is Phonics in a nut shell- A set of sounds that when put together, form words i.e. d-o-g = dog. Sounds simple, right?

The English language works in a way that confuses all, so there are another set of words (part 2) that when read 'phonetically' don't make sense at all. These are called tricky words or 'red words'.
For example- 'was' should be spelt 'wos'
